Install/Configure HPLIP – HP Linux Imaging & Printing

  1. I recently purchased an HP F2210 All-in-One device for my openSUSE 11.0 (i586)system. I downloaded and installed hplip and hplip-hpijs successfully, but when I ran hp-setup, “Select from Discovered Devices” was not able to see the device. Using lsusb I was able to find an entry that appeared to be the device:

    Bus 001 Device 063: ID 03f0:2404 Hewlett-Packard

And using the “Find Manually” button I was able to create an entry for it; however, after selecting a PPD file and clicking “Finish” I see the following messages:

    error: Unsupported model: Deskjet_F2200_series
error: Printer Error. Printer is busy, offline, or in an error state. Please check the device and try again.

Following the Troubleshooting section of the Help file from hp-setup, I reviewed /var/log/messages, where I see the following when I disconnect/reconnect the device:

Apparently the file /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat contains no matching entry for the F2210 device as it is reported to USB 1.1.1 (Deskjet F2200 series). Examining that file, I see the following entries that appear to be pertinent:

    [psc_2200_series]
    [psc_2210_series]

I tried duplicating each of these entries with the headers [Deskjet_F2200_series] and [Deskjet_F2210_series] but when rerunning hp-setup I get results like

    Jan 4 13:34:45 buckskin hp: io/hpmud/musb.c 1967: ignoring hp:/usb/Deskjet_F2200_series?serial=CN8954R4QX05BT support=0

    Jan 4 13:34:45 buckskin hp: io/hpmud/pp.c 627: unable to read device-id ret=-1

Any suggestions on how to proceed from here would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Leslie

  4. I just installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 and I have an HP Officejet Pro 8000 attached. There was not an 8000 driver in the installation. I downloaded hplip-3.10.6_rhel-5.0.i386.rpm and installed it with rpm. I still could not find the 8000 driver but I chose the 7400 driver and it seems to work OK. Where caan I get the correct 8000 driver?
