Ri-li – Free opensource Arcade game in openSUSE

Ri-li is an arcade game that runs under Linux, Windows, Mac OSX. You drive a toy wood engine in many levels and you must collect all the coaches to win. Ri-li is free and opensource licensed under GPL.

Install Ri-li

To install Ri-li, click this 1-click installer from Packman supported on openSUSE 11.1/11.0/10.3/10.2

NOTE: Click here for a how to on enabling 1-click install in openSUSE 10.2

This should download the YMP file and automatically launch the YaST package manager to add the required Repositories and download and install Ri-li and the dependencies. Click next on the Ri-li installation screen and Next again on the installation proposal window. This should start adding the required repositories, download and install Ri-li and its required dependencies. Click Finish when the installation completes successfully.

As you would expect this should install Ri-li under “Applications – Games“ as “Arcade Game“. Click Arcade Game to launch for the first time. Set your options and start playing. I can’t see myself doing much of a howto here on how to play the game. Have fun!!!

Warzone 2100 Resurrection opensource game in openSUSE

Warzone 2100 Resurrection was an innovative 3D real-time strategy game back in 1999. The game’s source code was released later in 2004, under a GPL license. Soon after that, the Warzone 2100 ReDev project was formed with the goal to make warzone run on all possible platforms. The original code of all proprietary technologies were stripped and replaced with cross-platform and free equivalents, like OpenGL, OpenAL, etc. Right now, Warzone 2100 works very well on Windows and GNU/Linux and BSD.

In Warzone 2100 you command the forces of “The Project” in a battle to rebuild the world after mankind has almost been destroyed by nuclear missiles. The game offers campaign, tutorial, multi-player and single-player skirmish modes. An extensive tech tree with over 400 different technologies, combined with the unit design system, allows for a wide variety of possible units and tactics. Warzone 2100 was created by Pumpkin Studios, published by Eidos Interactive and is currently developed by the Warzone 2100 Resurrection Project.

Install Warzone 2100 Resurrection

Click this 1-click installer from packman which supports openSUSE 11.1/11.0/10.3/10.2. This should download the YMP file and automatically launch the YaST package manager to add the required Repositories and download and install Warzon2100 and the required dependencies. Click next on the Warzone2100 installation screen and Next again on the installation proposal window. This should start adding the required repositories, download and install Warzoone2100 and its required dependencies. Click Finish when the installation completes successfully.

This should install Warzone 2100 under “Applications – Games” as “Strategy Game“. Click Strategy Game to start the game and choose between Single or Multiple players. Also, it presents a nice tutorial for players who haven’t played this game.

PySolFC – free 1048 Solitaire games pack in openSUSE

PySolFC, a fork of PySol Solitaire is a collection of 1048 solitaire card games. PySolFC is free opensource and is released under GNU GPL License. As pointed by our readers, UltraSol which is a collection of 400 or more Solitaire games looks like a re-brand of PySolFC. PySolFC contains games that use the 52 card International Pattern deck, games for the 78 card Tarock deck, eight and ten suit Ganjifa games, Hanafuda games, Matrix games, Mahjongg games, and games for an original hexadecimal-based deck. Its features include modern look and feel (uses Tile widget set), multiple cardsets and tableau backgrounds, sound, unlimited undo, player statistics, a hint system, demo games, a solitaire wizard, support for user written plug-ins.

Install PySolFC
PySOlFC can be installed using the 1-click installer available from packman. Click this 1-click installer for PySolFC to download the YaST MetaPackage file (YMP) and launch with YaST Package Manager. This 1-click installer supports openSUSE 11.0/10.3/10.2 & openSUSE 11.1 Beta

Click Next on the window showing the PySolFC application description and the Next on the installation proposal window. This should start adding the required dependencies and PySolFC package itself. Click Finish when the installation successfully completes.

This should installed PySolFC under “Applications – Games – Card Games“. Click PySolFC to launch to the Solitaire games pack.

Under the Select menu, select your game or choose to have a playable preview. The games package has good documentation as well.

Ultrasol – 400 different Solitaire games in one pack in openSUSE

Ultrasol is a collection of nearly 400 different solitaire or patience games. There are games that use the 52 card International Pattern deck, games for the 78 card Tarock deck, eight and ten suit Ganjifa games, Hanafuda games, Matrix games, Mahjongg games, and games for an original hexadecimal-based deck.
It includes many different sets of playing card images and all under standard solitaire type window.

Install ultrasol

Click this 1-click installer for Ultrasol from Packman to download the YaST MetaPackage file (YMP) and launch with YaST Package Manager. This 1-click installer supports openSUSE 11.0/10.3/10.2 & openSUSE 11.1 (Beta)

click Next on the window showing the Ultrasol application description and the Next on the installation proposal window. This should start adding the required dependencies and ultrasol package itself. Click Finish when the installation successfully completes.

This should install Ultrasol under “Applications – Games – Card Games“. Launch Ultrasol and you have it all…all the 400 different solitaire games.

For a quick preview of what is in offer, click Select – playable Preview. This allows you to preview the game and at the same serves a preview for you.

You can change the card sets, card images and the backgrounds all from the settings menu.

I’m sure this is one game or set of games that you do not need any big introduction…Do you???

superTux – Classic 2D jump’n'run sidescroller game in openSUSE

SuperTux is a classic 2D jump’n run sidescroller game in a style similar to the original SuperMario games. The Milestone1 release of SuperTux features 9 enemies, 26 playable levels, software and OpenGL rendering modes, configurable joystick and keyboard input, new music and completly redone graphics. Together with a little story, SuperTux provides a good gaming experience with this first Milestone release.

Install Supretux
To install Supertux on your openSUSE, click this 1-click installer (YaST MetaPackages) packman which supports openSUSE 11.0/10.3/10.2 and SuSE 10.1/10.0. This will automatically download the YMP file and launch YaST Package Manager.

NOTE: Click here to enable 1-click install feature in openSUSE 10.2

Click Next in the window showing Repository selected and then click Next on the window showing supertux package selection and click Next again on the installation proposal window. This will start adding the required repositories and install the SuperTux package and the required dependencies. Click Finish when the successfully installed on your openSUSE.

Once installed, you can find SuperTux can be found under “Applications – Games” as “Jump’n'Run”

Click “Jump’n'Run” to start Supertux and play yourselves. A good game to remind you of the good old days!!!

vitetris – free opensource tetris game clone in openSUSE terminal

vitetris is a free opensource Tetris clone for the terminal that doesn’t use ncurses. It features configurable keys, a high score table, and 2-player mode. Gameplay is much like the early Tetris games. This build of vitetris does not have support for X11 terminal resizing but has no dependency on X11 runtime libraries to be installed on your system.

Install Vitetris
To install Vtetris in openSUSE, click this 1-click installer from Packman which supports openSUSE 11.0/10.3/10.2 and SuSE 10.1/10.0. This will download the vitetris YaSt Metapackage (YMP) file and launch YaST Package manager. Click next on the Vitetris install description window and click Next again on the proposal window showing the repositories and the package selection. Click Finish when it successfully completes the installation.

This installs vitetris under /usr/bin/vitetris.

opensuse11:~ # which vitetris
/usr/bin/vitetris

Start vitetris

opensuse:~ # vitetris

This starts vitetris in the same terminal window. Select 1-Player Games and press enter and then select Level and Height to start the game.
