I have the exact same problem as Sam,

Playback and recording of audio works just fine in all of my apps *except* Skype, have been meddling around with the settings for a while now with no luck at all.

My hardware is:

Hi!

I'm new to the linux world so I'm hoping you can help me out with Skype video? I have just installed openSUSE 11.1 and I got Skype working fine except for the video part. Do you know if Skype can do video on opensuse11.1? I have a Logitech webcam plug into my laptop and I was able to test the webcam in the options menu okay but I can not do video calling.

Thanks.

Thank you for the reply!

Yes, I did.

My motherboard have an integrated ALC883 sound chip.

And everything works fine outside Skype, playback and recording.

When I set Skype playback to work with pulseaudio it works for some seconds then the entire sound system seems to crash, no more sounds, even outside Skype.

My motherboard is an ASUS P5VD2-X;
And Suse have automatically set VT1708/A [Azalia HDAC] (VIA High Definition Audio Controller) as the driver for my motherboard ALC883 integrated sound chip.

Thank you, once more, for the promptly reply.
