openSUSE 11.1 Beta 4 is now relased and available for download as Live CDs for KDE4 and GNOME Desktops. The DVD is available only via Bit Torrtents. Lets get started with installing openSUSE 11.1 Beta 4 with KDE4 deaktop environment. The installation is from the Live CD downloadable from here. I’ve choosen to use a 32-bit CD for the installation.

A few days before we saw the Beta 3 release for openSUSE 11.1 and here we go, Beta 4 is out, although a bit delayed from the original scheduled date. openSUSE 11.1 is now taking some shape and seems to be getting good if not better with every release. openSUSE 11.1 Beta 4 is available as Live CDs for KDE4 and GNOME desktops. The DVD is available for download only via Bit Torrent.

While openSUSE 11.1 Beta 4 being delayed, lets have a quick look at openSUSE 11.1 Beta 3 with main change since Beta 2 is the Linux Kernel 2.6.27.1 which fixes the major Intel e1000 network card issue. Also, includes OpenOffice 3.0, Mono2.0, Banshee 1.3.2, GNOME 2.24

With openSUSE 11.1 Beta 4 just around the corner, lets have a quick look at the roadmap for openSUSE 11.1.
With the big issues with the Intel e1000 NIC issues causing havok all around (not caused by openSUSE as such) in openSUSE 11.1 Beta and now being resolved, the current release of openSUSE 11.1 is Beta 3 where the main change since Beta 2 are

When I wrote about GNOME-Do here, one of our readers “James D” suggested Katapult application launcher for KDE. Inspired by QuickSilver for Mac OS X, Katapult is an application launcher for KDE designed to allow faster access to applications, bookmarks, and other items. It is plugin-based, so it can launch anything that is has a plugin for. Its display is driven by plugins as well, so its appearance is completely customizable. It was inspired by Quicksilver for OS X.
